I can run a line from my rad to the header tank if need be.....Is there a provision on the tank for this?
Also .....re your overflow tank.....does it have some coolant in there for expansion and cooling to draw the fluid back in or is that a different version?
I take it the Vanagon tank has that blue screw cap on it NOT like the radiator cap style that is just a 90° turn to open?

Hi
There is no provision on the tank for a line from the radiator. On my car I have hose that I can take off for bleeding but I dont bother anymore.
My T25 tank does have a fitting to run to an overflow tank, I find this very useful to purge the last bit of air out of the system.
I running a stock coolant manifold, I connect my overflow up to the main front to back tube.

-Steve , my coolant crossover manifold is basically stock.......I just cut and welded/moved the outlet so I could aim it to the rad under the bus.
-The other outlet (outlet A in other pic) was going to the heater but can I use it to go to the top of the Vanagon header tank now? I'm not running a heater matrix but left it in the diagram in case later I run one.
-In one of your post earlier you had mentioned you had 'T'd some hoses....can you let me know which ones?
-As for pics......No help here sorry. Mine are hosted from my clubs site.
-If you can email me them I can host them for you.
-Is this your layout......minus the pink line to the rad?

Also , what's the difference then in running the stock Subaru header tank and /or T25 or the Vanagon header tank?
Why the change/upgrade etc ?

Hi
I used a few parts from my old 1302 that I did a turbo 2.1 WBX conversion to, I used a T25 header tank on that and I had it left over when I sold the car as I put the car back to air cooled before I sold it.
The stock WRX header tank would be OK to use but I would mount it as high as possible. I dont run tee pieces anymore after I joined the hoses together.

YES, A to the top of the expansion bottle then onto the heater matrix ( or bypass the matrix and go to the thermostat housing return pipe)

YES same as mine ( I have the pink line )

expansion bottle:
for this circuit to work, should have one top inlet and one bottom outlet with one additional small top inlet to the radiator. The radiator top feed is important to purge air out out the radiator otherwise it'll create an airlock

Thanks Steve and Kai , So it looks as though then that my WRX style tank would work ? It has the right amount of fittings etc and is the highest point.
If I run this style what do you do with the nipple just below the pressure cap then ?

-Does the T25/Vanagon expansion tank have the additional small top inlet ?
Kai.....Got pics of your tank ?
-Also in this system do you need to run the overflow tank with some coolant in it? Doesn't look like either of you do.

I’m unsure exactly to the science, should you decide to retain the wrx tank then young as well also retain the expansion bottle. Should you decide to do away with the expansion bottle then simply jam the plunger on the pressure cap or block the little port off.
I believe the T25 cap is essentially the same as the wrx system.
My expansion bottle is from the Vauxhall’s frontera. I don’t believe I can buy parts for it here in Europe for it and don’t believe it was ever released outside of Europe.
