flipped passat box cv joints

Just a thought if you want to lower your van with a flipped box could you use some off road long travel cv's to get around the problems

what about thinking about the other end of the problem: the very low sump with a flipped Passat box. If you could shorten and widen the sump you'd retain capacity and gain ground clearance. Or build up a dry sump system and gain loads of clearance...

I was thinking of this as well . Shorting the sump is easy as i did it on my scooby beetle dry sump is something i was wondering about too.i would like my split low if possible with A4 box

The sump isn't really the issue, the lowest point is the bottom of the bellhousing and adaptor plate. I've got nearly 5 inches of ground clearance on mine and a pretty good angle on the cv joints.

No, standard height on the rear with 195-65-16 tyres

not lowered and less than 5" of clearance under the engine? I was hoping for more TBH. My van is stock height too.

You wouldn't have a good side-on photo of the lowest parts would you?

I haven't got my gearbox from being modified to run upside-down yet but as soon as I do, I have the PD130 engine waiting for it.

here's a flipped passat box and the engine mounted in the stock 15 degree tilt. Sump looks about the same height as the bellhousing.

I'd have liked a bit more clearance too, but I didn't want the cv joint angles more than 15º.
