t2 with alfa boxer

since the alfa section is DEAD, and this is the only remaining active part of the forum, I thought I might continue here

Now:
I just started on the rad setup. I had a vanagon rad laying around with shroud, and a friend gave me a delco messerschmidt Fan he wasn't using, so I merged all that into this:



I had to get rid of one of the screws because it was rubbing the chassis rails.

I think this rad most probably will work because it was made to cool an engine that was actually in the back of a bus, instead of the front of a light car. It fits tight between the chassis rails, and I am putting it in an angle with a scoop. The fan will be on top sucking air if needed.

Finished the rad setup this weekend, just have to mount the expansion tank.
I used aluminium pipes that I have from all the beachflags that I use for the surfschool in summer. The flags themselves usually last for a couple of weeks, but the poles are still good, since I am the kind of guy that has trouble throwing stuff away, I had plenty of those left!
I built a tool to make "flanges" to the poles, same tool as almost everybody on this forum has made, thanks!

all the rubbes hoses are either from an alfa 147 or from a t25 vw. Had a whole pile of those, so plenty of possibilities:


I used the thermoswitch out of the alfa rad, had the same size and thread.

progress....

I rebuilt the original 32 weber carb and intake manifold, and put that back on:



Found a spot for the header tank, the tank is out of a 146 alfa, and is easy to fill through the top hatch:







I still can't believe the amount of space there is left with this engine in the back... so easy to work on!

Anymore progress with your conversion?
I've a 1.5 sud engine I want to put into the back of my bay. Can you show me any photos of your engine support? Did you use alfa engine mounts?
