Back n topic then as I have somethin remotely interesting to share.
As I've had my gauges apart today figured I'd show the little electrical gizmo on the back of the speedo:
Could this be modified to work as a vss for the Subaru ecu?

It is a VSS already, not sure what signal it gives out, the later gauges have this and the early ones don't, probably just used by the engine ecu..

Old thread revival!!!!
Couple of things, got my fuel gauge working yesterday. First time since December. It's showing Half a tank which which appears to be right be looking at the level. But time will tell. According to my tank mileage estimations I'm baffled though. My first tank got me 140miles, and I can it dry so know this mileage was from full to totally empty. This time round I'm at 120 miles and I'm showing half a tank  go figure.
Oh actually whilst I had the sender apart I put it through the range and it appeared to work fine and I'm chuffed I no longer have to guess the range of fuel I've got left.
I also discovered that the speed sensor on the back of my speedo is powered from the rev counter. Saw a set for sail on eBay and that's where it was plugged in. No mpg gauge on my gauges thoug.... Not that it interest me lol.

I too have these 924 gauges on the self at home and I'm contemplating whether or not I'll use them.
I read that the Fuel gauge is potentially an issue, how have you guys got on with them?
The speedometer I have appears (to the untrained eye) to have some type of speed sensor at the back Regroupement de crédit immo. This is a small circuit board with two wires coming out, underneath this boards is a round metallic wheel, could be magnetic dunno? Is this what I think it is?
These gauges will be a pain to fit into my Type three but if I knew they would definitely be up to the job then I'm prepared to have a go at fitting them.
