SIGNAL WIRE TO START IS MISSING

HELP ,I WAS TALKING TO JOEL ABOUT MY ENGINE SEEMS TO TAKE ITS TIME STARTING AND HE TOLD ME TO CHECK AND SEE IF THE SIGNAL WIRE FROM STARTER TO THE ECU WAS CONECTED AND SURE ENOUGH THERES NO SIGN OF ONE.SO CAN ANYONE HERE HELP ME LOCATE THIS WIRE .MY ENGINE IS AN EJ22 1990 SOHC .WIRE DIAGRAM OR COLOUR WIRE FROM WHATEVER CONNECTOR BLOCK,ANYTHING WOULD BE GREAT.

Blue wire, red tracer - normally thick from the orig solonoid connection then goes thin at the ECU

HI THANKS FOR REPLY MATE. DONT REALLY GET YOU WHEN YOU SAY RED TRACER. DO YOU MEAN THE WIRE STARTS OFF AS A THICK BLUE AND ENDS UP A RED THIN WIRE GOING SOMEWHERE TO THE ECU

Blue wire with a red stripe all the way down it.

i found the blue wire pluged into the ecu and i traced it back to were it connects into one of the 3 connector blocks for the engine loom. now do i join on a wire and then connect it with the thick live wire that screws onto the starting motor ?

You answered your question in your first post.
It's the wire that connects to the solonoid from the vw Ign. switch (thin one)

Ok sorry im really confused and i've been trying to figure it out so im not embarrassing myself by asking but need to sort it out. the starting motor has one thick leed that goes to the battery and then goes up to the fuse box and a thin one that goes from starter to the bodyas an earth. the blue and red wire is coming from the ecu to were it plugs into the engine loom .i dont cut this wire and just reroute it to the starter. do i just join on a wire and connect it to the thick one to the starter that goes back to the plus side of the battery.

Imagine the old VW setup.
The thin wire from the vw ign switch needs joining to the blue&red Subaru one.

Both these wires fit on the solonoid with a simple spade connector. Not onto the big, bolt up terminal (direct to battery.
