Hi i'm having trouble with my MAF, my engine will run without it connected but as soon as i plug it in it stalls. I've bought another one with the same number but it still wont have it. Any ideas?
Some figures i got on the sensor are;
+12v to gnd = 12.6ohm
+12v to Maf gnd = 12.6ohm
+12v to Maf sensor 18.3ohm
And the vlotates down the plug wires with ignition on but not running are;
12v on the +12v wire
7v on the Maf sensor wire. |

| Could the MAF be linked to the Lambda sensor and its this thats the culprit? |

| Hi all, i'm still having trouble with my engine running with the new Maf connected. It ran for about a min with it plugged in after i started it with the maf unplugged then plugged in while running. Does the ecu have to learn how to run the engine or is there something else likely to be wrong? I'm not getting any error codes untill i unplugged the Maf. |

Yes the ecu does learn. When you unplug it, you should take it easy for the first mile or two _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

| Ok, so should i expect it to run like a bag of nails and stall? |

In a word, no.
After the reset it should happily idle and drive _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

Oh. Thats not good i've still got the problem with my MAF, it wont idle with it but runs ok ish without. I've sealed and jubilee clipped all my air pipes now and still no better. I also cant hear any air leaks on the inlet manifold. I have tested the MAF on the bench with 14v on the +12v pin and the earth on the sensor earth. I get a steady volvage increase when i blow through the sensor. Cant remenber exact figures but went to about 2.5v max. If i run with no Maf and pull the revs up high then plug it back in it runs really nice untill the revs drop. My loom was done by Richard (RJES) so i doubt that there's a problem with the wiring. Any ideas other than another MAF? Could my air filter be letting through too much air, i.e. not enough restriction?
Also no fault code untill i unplug the MAF sensor. |

Hi
I'm not sure about this.
Do Subarus use an ECU controlled idle stepper motor to control idle speed? I have seen them gummed up and not operating correctly, a shot of throttle body cleaner will usually fix it.

| I was thinking it wouldn't be that as the engine will idle with the MAF sensor unplugged. Should still it run with no MAF if the IAC is gummed up? |

Hi
I didn't think of that. Cleaning it won't do any harm.

You've been there too? *rolleyes*
That's why we ask for engine code, year etc on every new post. Don't care if they've posted a 1,000 times before _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.
