Hey guys, I'm doing an ej20 conversion into a t25 soon and was wondering what some of you have done with your fuel pumps? I don't really wana change my tank cus it's not that old, but was thinking of fitting a lift pump to the original 8mm outlet from tank to the factory swirl pop from a golf which then feeds the efi pump and the return from the fuel rail goes back to the swirl pot too, so in theory there should be a decent amount of fuel for the efi pump. I did think of enlarging the outlet from the tank but don't fancy messing with the tank, I know the easiest option is to fit an efi tank and be done with it but I'm sure some people have managed without it?

I thought about this for mine but for the price of a new tank not worth the effort, just go for the tried and tested larger dia gravity to pump, job done. I think this is on the limit wth an ej25 and would benefit from a remote swirl pot anyway,
Im not sure but would have thought the fuel rail system would still want to pump round the same volume/keep the same pressure but engine would sip a little less fuel for an ej20.

I could be wrong,
someone shoot me down in flames please ............................................................................... Eeeek

I'm just running an external Bosch one in my LB. I think you'll find most people do this on gravity outlets (don't know how T3 tanks are) You can clamp them with a Bug coil clamp (fit rubber strips to keep it quiet)

the efi t25 tank has a swirl pot built in and the correct 12mm outlet for the high pressure pump as fitted on the 2.1 injection vans, i bought one from euro car parts (about 4 years since now) and it was £120 cheapest place i could find to be honest if you get the front of the van up on run up ramps the tank is easy to swap and if its not been off for a while the breather/ expansion tank hoses are probably rottern anyway a hour each way max and thats including draining the fuel out of the old tank

A gravity feed setup works for just an ordinary day to day driver but if you do any sort of spirited driving the fuel surge you'll get can cause bad lean out and eat up an engine quick

I had to redesign my fuel system, as even with a 1L surgetank fed by a lift pump with the rail return back into the surgetank I was having pump heat issues cos the surge tank wasnt big enough.

This is my latest setup with a 2L surge tank.
works like a charm but I do do some hard cornering and accelaration

For the record, PVC is gas safe, i've been running a similar setup to joel's old swirl pot design for 10k miles without a problem (other than cavitation when it gets warm, but thats because the return from the fuel rail is in the wrong spot).
