I made a "kit" from vehicle wiring products parts. 3 times thicker than the OG and fits perfectly. I descovered that the original tube can be tapped for the cable adjuster W81632 and then an outer fixes that to the engine. After that its pretty simple and works perfectly

http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/motorcycle/controlcable.php

You can bodge the old two together but its nice to have an easy fix should somthing go twang.

Hi

Firstly where abouts are you? If your near cheltenham then come over for a morning or afternoon, take a look, drink tea and I'll take you for a spin. Its not a hard conversion but actually seeing it done will really help.

The spigot bearing is a simple bit of kit, it stops the input shaft wobbling about. £2 from GSF. There is one on a standard vw flywheel nut, you may just not have noticed it.

Which engine are you doing, the petrol 2e? I have most of the wiring diagrams for the non imobaliser engines now.

Seb

Does anyone have the VW part number for this spigot bearing and/or gsf part number, i want to make sure i get the right one, the guy on the phone at vw didnt know what i was talking about when i tried to explain it...

cheers

ok, ive been to gsf and they only had one spigot bearing listed for T25, which was petrol / all watercooled VW. I bought it but when looking at the flywheel from kep it is very small. so does it fit to the clutch then? its only about 15mm wide this bearing...

The GSF website shows two

One being 02280 and one being 02283

I think its the first one I used but both are the same diameter one is longer.

Both are also shown for diesel so I think you may have a Bad GSF moment. I was really lucky that the GSF in Cheltenham has several top blokes who have been very useful

They do go in the flywheel and you'll find that on the one I used there is a very small seal on one side so needs to go in one way only

Good luck

Seb

I realise I've mislead you Laugh Out Loud

On this engine the bearing actually goes in the end of the crank on the flywheel end Laugh Out Loud

Sorry dude, I did wonder why you had so many problems, the problem was me!

Fit the flywheel to the crank and look at the centre, it should start to make sense

If not email/pm me and I'll send you my number

DOH
