| Anyone tried fitting A4 wheels to a early bay. Looks like the PCD is the same as the bay 5 stud pattern. but are 205 tyres too wide to clear the arches or steering on full lock? |

they shouldnt be far of fitting straight on dependent on your ride hight etc. the stud pattern on the late bay and a4 are both 5x112mm but the centre bore on the a4 is smaller so you will have to grind or turn out the centre bores. the ofset is et39 on a late bay steel wheel the audi a4 alloys are around et45. _________________ 1964 rat 13 window deluxe 1Z tdi,

just been offered a set of Merc vito alloys with ET38 which seem to fit ok on the front but may need to open out the centre on the rears by a mm or so.
However I guess you need to remove the wheel studs and replace with wheel bolts. Any one know what diameter bolts are required or are longer studs the better option. |

if it has 112 mm pattern (small5) then it all ready has studs and nuts why would you want to put bolts in? plus the hub hole is to large to tap to m14 if you need longer 1's try 25 specialists and use 2x sets of rear 1's _________________ 1964 rat 13 window deluxe 1Z tdi,

I used to run A4 alloys on my early bay and had to open the senter bore up a bit and fit longer studs as there wasn't enough thread poking through the alloy
What I did was take the front studs out and put them on the rear as fronts were longer and buy a new set of long studs for the front.. can't remember where I got them from I think LT's use the longer studs.
I'm guessing you'll have the same lack of thread issue with the vito alloys.
I also had to machine a bit off the spline on the fronts studs as the wheel wouldn't push up tight to the hub.. so watch out for that.
