im looking to register my import 67 samba with the d.v.l.a.
ive been told you m.o.t it [with insurance on chassis plate] and drive it there with no number plates.
ive been told you fill in relevent forms, before or after m.o.t? and wait for registration plate number to be sent.
do you need it inspected?
does someone come around?
do they check for "modifications" or just vin and engine number?
so many questions........................????
please be so kind and help me out
many thanks

you need to drive to a prebooked mot test have the pass certificate done on chassis number take the van home(do not drive again on road till registered as its illegal) take mot ,us title/logbook(for age related plate),hm customs vat paid certificate, registration fee to your local dvla office along with 2 forms of id you will have to fill in a form with all van details etc and pay them you will then get a receipt for the paper work. this is where it varries my friend took his documents to the local dvla to register his 67 kombi and they sent him a offical letter to buy number plates and his free tax disk and his new mot certificate in 7 days and his first uk logbook in 14 days, when i went to register my 64 microbus at the same office a few weeks later they took my documents and after 7 day i got a letter saying they need to see the bus and i had to wait about a month before they could come to me or i could book a inspetion at the local office in a few days but i wasnt legally allowed to drive it there so i had to hire a trailer and tow it there for a inspection after that was done (about 10min they only checked chassis and engine number) the new documents came within 5 working days. I had a 1900cc engine fitted and declared the fuel type as diesel they were happy with that and didnt want a receipt for engine even though it was'nt the original engine as it was never registered in the uk with the original 1500cc petrol fitted _________________ 1964 rat 13 window deluxe 1Z tdi,
