Hello to everyone.
I need some advice about identifying a gearbox/transaxle. I have read a fair bit about them on various websites and most seem to have the same info; i.e. there should be a code stamped on the box a two letter code denoting the type and a longer number starting 091/094 and so on. But this information is confusing me a little.
I recently bought a gearbox off ebay, the gearbox was an incidental purchase as I was after the diesel conversion stuff and the box came with it. On checking the box over for the codes I found three of the longer number codes, but could not find any of the letter identifiers. So I have a 091 XXXXXXX code on the petrol bellhousing, a 091 XXXXXX code on the middle section of the box, and a 094 XXXXXX code on the end.
Does anybody have any idea which code could be right? Or would I be right in thinking that the box has been assembled from a couple of boxes?
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated, as I need to make a suitable choice of engine for my conversion. Have the diesel bellhousing, bars, sump, pump and so on for my T25.

091 are 2litre baywindow gearboxs and are very sort after. A t25 neads to have a side shift on the nose cone were as the 091 box is not so I dont think it will fit unless it has been converted.
a 2litre T25 boxs should be cheep as chips to pick up so I would suggest you buy another and sell on the one you have-you should be able to make a few quid!

The gearbox code is stamped into a machined bit on the bottom of the box, the numbers you quoted are the casting numbers not the gearbox code. _________________ www.futbus.com
