| Hi all, got the chance of a 1980 Subaru Forester complete car with low miles looking to put it in a 1970 crew cab is this a good engine for this swop, also do I need to ask if it's an import if so how can I tell. Thanks in advance. |

| Sorry guys that should be 2000 not 1980, put that down to excitement, anyway I've bought it. 79000 miles 13 stamps in the service book and lots of bills for servicing. Can't afford to fit it yet so going to put it in the garage and see if I can pick up the bits to fit it. And just smile every time I open the door!!! |

| Hi Kai, yes don't want to rush this want to make sure I get it right, did intend to keep gearbox but how do you go on at cab end with selector cause Subaru is five speed |

You've come to the right place for your conversion then.
Check out the subarugears website for info.
For the gearstick you modify the reverse lockout on you VW gearstick. Then get creative at the gearbox end linking the VW shift rod to the Subaru selector rod.

| Yes been visiting the site for quite some time now, have also looked at subarugears website it tells you how to connect at gearbox end but I must have missed that about the cab end. So would you use the selector plate out of the forester |

You just use what ever your creative flare produces. Anything to connect the VW rod to the Subaru selector rod. I used a BMW e30 steering UJ. I've not seen any two conversions do it the same way.

I've used Simon, at API Subaru.
First time round they were golden. Not so good this time though. Taking them ages. I know they will do what I want but I'm not happy with the time scale. I'm going to go there Friday and collect it what ever state it's in as I'm fed up with waiting. Last I heard a week ago it was almost ready.
You should use cleverchaps guy
Or I'd use a local guy to me in Dorking next time. Although in saying that I can't afford a next
