Yep top one looks like the oxygen sensor alright..

Can't help with the bottom one though Sad

Poor thing would have been running in closed loop mode all the time with no VSS and no o2 sensor.

Well it ran "fine" for years just now it runs terrible. I fitted an oxygen sensor from a turbo motor but its the wrong one as it ran even worse, wouldnt accelerate at all. But at a 100$ for a new one well i can buy a whole legacy for 500$.

Having spent a lot of weekends on this and still no further along im just gonna get a new engine.

Oh i checked the timing and it was fine, had the plugs out again and they look the same side to side now.!!

Oh i swapped knock sensor too didnt make a difference.

Either that or blocked #1 & #3 injectors.

I did look at schematics for grounds between injectors but they run in #1, #2, #3, #4 order, so if #1 was out it would take all of them with it

Coil packs are total loss so #1 & #2 would go or #3 and #4

But a fault on #1 and #3

changed the coil and leads, made it slightly smoother but still lacking in power.

Took it to a subaru garage but as i dont have the diagnostic plug wired in to my system they said it would cost a fair bit in hours to totally diagnose what was wrong.

If i get a new engine i will rip out all the loom and put new loom in from donor car. Seen some forester turbos go for nothing, but i wonder about me having an adapter plate and not rjes housing, how to sort pull clutch and clutch it self!

Seeing as your on a roll here swapping the sensor's I would also try the crank and cam sensor. Could also be your cam pulley maybe looking one of the metal triggers off the wheel.

Ouch!!! I'd say you've found your problem Eeeek

Classic case of the main crank shaft bolt working loose, also the crankshaft pulleys delaminate and cause vibrations.

I've had the exact same thing happen on a Mitsubishi diesel engine, of which this is a common problem but not on a Subaru motor. The guy araldited the woodruff key and the pulley back into position and retightened it all up. Worked beautifully after that, he said that the bolt is holding everything together and the woodruff key is just a guide. I wasn't convinced by it but its worked for a long time like that.
