Been mocking up the cooling pipes under the car and decided my best option is to run them around the floorpan rather than straight down the middle, mainly because of the large bulge on the framehead joint.
A few awkward shots to show the progress so far...

Picked up my loom from Fellows Speed Shop, during their open day.
I thought I would show it before
and after...
Left overs..
Tonight Ive been running twin fuel lines, through the car alongside the centre tunnel.

|
|
Anyone who has fitted a Kennedy adaptor plate will know about the interference of the bottom two bolts with the gearbox mounts. Ive tried to find some countersunk bolts with the correct 10 x 1.25 pitch but cannot get anything other than stainless which dont have the same strength of 10.9.
So Ive resigned myself to setting about the mounts with the dremel, but to make things easier I have counter bored the adaptor plate to take the flange of the bolt out of the equation.
It went from this...
to this...

These were all from last week..
Ready for fitting, I noticed the pressure plate fingers went in a lot more than usual, hope this doesnt cause me problems.
Well the gits in, and only just. I need to fine tune the side with the persuader if it ever comes back out but for now it can stay.
Note to anyone fitting a later 2 ltr into a bug... DONT! fit the earlier engine.
Now that its in I can continue with the water pipes etc
PS:
Before I forget, these Kennedy adaptors, as beautiful as they are need a bit more thought regarding the bottom bolts. Countersink the bottom four bolts if your fitting one with a cradle and rubber mounts. Not only did I have to clearance the bottom bolts as above, I had to take 2 out that interfered with the cradle. |

Right, something Ive been thinking about for a while. The oil filler tube interferes with the body work & needs moding. I have seen suggestions of alternative filler tubes but I couldnt get hold of any other so here's what I did.
Made a base plate 10mm thick countersunk the mounting holes the relocated the filler to the angle I wanted. A simple & neat solution.

Right, an update is long overdue.
Had the new engine a while, I've just been gathering the other bits n bobs to go with it. I also replaced the firewall I had previously cut out to accommodate the air box from the 1st engine.
Sits perfect in the car..
Some powder coating I've had done..and new reverse intake manifold... all courtesy of Fellowsspeedshop

Wow cant believe this was so long back when I last posted.
Things have changed, I sold the 1303 and have bought a 356 coupe replica and I'm putting the engine into there.
Here is the link for anyone wanting to have a look. |
