66 Split/bay Brake upgrade

I have at last got my brake upgrade together, with mixed results.

The fronts have 312 vented disks and Audi TT floating calipers, courtesy of Dave at Futbus.

The rears are 288 solid disks and Golf type calipers on home made brackets.

Got it finished yesterday and as the MOT had expired whilst off the road, took it for its test.It did pass, but only just! The rear brakes only just made the minimum requirement efficiency. Not what I had in mind.
As its all new and nothing is binding I am wondering if the master cylinder is up to the job?
It's a 23 bore 80 stroke but only has a single outlet for the rear. I'm sure there must be a formula to work out what I need, anyone know how.

What master cylinder are those of you running a disk at each corner using?

Any pointers much appreciated, having just got it back on the road, not looking forward to taking it apart again, but the point of the exercise was to get BETTER brakes not just different.

neil im using a porsche 944 S2 M/C mainly so it was matched to the other componenets i used.

Have you checked the condition of your proportioning valve? (im assuming splits have them?) on bays these do have a habit of gunging up and the ballbearing sticking in one position. i actually ditched mine for a manully adjustable one from a rally car but there are many other and better systems out there in the scrapyard. VW polo ones are nice and compact and can be linked easily to the rear suspension arm.

Had a PM from 13 window deluxe, could be down to a badly adjusted hand brake.

any joy on handbrake? did the cable adjustment make it any better?

Re adjusted the hand brake as caliper levers not back against the stops, but due to a full program of family events, not had a chance to try it out.
Will be giving it a long test run next weekend, of to Vanwest on Sunday.

My brakes only just made it thru the MOT as well, but after a couple of miles they soon started working properly
I reckon you may nee to scrub the pads in to the disks Wink

Round trip of 250 miles this weekend with a trip down to VanWest, van ran well, brakes now seem to be working much better and sun all the way. Grin
